Lions hope home games early boosts win total
By Bud L. Ellis
After finishing in the middle of the pack in the Ivy League last season, the Columbia Lions are hoping to move their way toward the top in 2010.
The Lions finished 4-6 a year ago, tying Princeton for fourth in the eight-team conference at 3-4 in Ivy League action.
The Lions open their 10-game season with five of their first six at Robert Kraft Field at Lawrence Wien Stadium. It starts with the season opener against Fordham on Sept. 18, followed by home games with Towson, Princeton in the Ivy League opener, and Lafayette on Oct. 9.
Columbia travels to Penn on Oct. 16, then returns home for the homecoming game against Dartmouth on Oct. 23.
Three of the final four are on the road, starting with a trip to Yale on Oct. 30. Columbia plays at Harvard on Nov. 6, returns home to face Cornell on Nov. 13, and wraps up the season at Brown on Nov. 20.
